Friday: Avon Dale Band w/ River Valley Rangers

Friday, Jun 19th, 2015

Avon Dale is a band that draws its influences from rock, blues and soul. The band originated with an unlikely duo. Lead vocalist and electric guitar player Conrad Polz and vocalist/acoustic guitarist Matt McCarter met as members of the wrestling team their freshman year at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Through their college years they balanced out the intensity of wrestling with jam sessions and nights spent writing songs on the roof of Polz’s college home on Avondale Avenue. Both Polz and McCarter are self taught guitarists and singers; they let the lyrics and the music flow around the theme or the aesthetic they are creating. “Both of us were new to song writing”, states McCarter, “we started writing music as a joke to entertain friends, but it slowly turned into a hobby, then a passion.”  River Valley Rangers are the evening’s opening band.

Saturday: Hairbanger’s Ball

Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at 08:00 PM

30 years ago, bands like Bon Jovi, Poison, Guns ‘N’ Roses and Motley Crue were selling millions of records and playing sold out concerts all over the world. Today, one tribute band has tapped into the nostalgic energy of the “Decade of Decadence” like no other. They call themselves Hairbanger’s Ball.

Hairbanger’s Ball was established out of Chicago in 2001.  What started off as a “What If” idea quickly turned this band into one of the most sought after “80’s Hair Rock Tribute Bands” in the United States.  Performing over 150 shows a year for 13 years says it all.  Their show is in high demand for club venues, private parties and corporate events.  This band has even been named “Best Rock Band” by the public in their home town of Chicago.

What can you expect when seeing Hairbanger’s Ball? A high energy show that does not skimp out on the music.  Being a 6 piece band, with both powerful male and female vocalists, nothing is left to be desired when listening to and watching this band put on a show. Hairbanger’s Ball can bring back a memory of a rock concert someone saw in 1985 and also bring the youngsters the experience of a rock concert they were just too young to see.

Saturday: Michael Heaton

Wednesday, Nov 5th, 2014 at 09:00 PM

Michael Heaton’s music emerges from classic American traditions – rock, country and pop. But Heaton accomplishes what few songwriters and performers do; he makes the tried and true feel new again. An energetic self- described “rock guy that isn’t afraid of a little country,” Heaton bridges the energy and passion of the best rock n’ roll with plainspoken, emotionally affective lyrics that touch a chord in many people. Over the course of literally thousands of performances and several albums, Heaton has proved his mettle – he’s an artist who has won himself an eager fan base, and entertained countless people in the process.

The bulk of material for Conover’s forth coming album was written while journeying through the historic towns, rugged coastlines and scenic mountains of Ireland. A Live One is a Phish tribute band based in Austin, TX, sharing the joy of Phish where Phish rarely treads. A Live One began in December of 2010 by guitarist Josh Pearson and drummer Dan McGreevy of the band Moving Matter. As time turned elastic, the line up evolved to Wesley Haynes on keyboards, Andy Harn on Bass and Alan Eckert on drums. Being huge fans of Phish and heavily influenced by them, the band found it very exciting recreating their music. Soon realizing the difficulty of the music, A Live One rises to the challenge, striving to create a similar experience to the real thing, on a much smaller level.
